The article incorrectly states there is no blocking. There is blocking, just not of the entire data structure. It's better to read the actual Javadocs than this article. This article is an inaccurate summary of the Javadocs. http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/util/concurrent/ConcurrentHashMap.html

@devdanke, did you read the complete article? would you mind to quote which statement is incorrect? Read is certainly unblocked, except a special case, which is unlikely to occur, if you care to look the code of get() method. I appreciate feedback and happy to correct myself, if you care to quote.
