A year ago, Federico Viticci from MacStories wrote "iOS 7 Wishes" about the things he hoped (or simply expected) to see in iOS 7. Some came true, and some didn't. Now, Viticci has written an updated version for iOS 8, and he covers three broad categories: features missing from iOS 7, newly-possible features, and features in Mavericks that ought to be in iOS 8. He explains each in detail with graphics where appropriate, but the wishlist looks like this:
- All sorts of UI improvements
- Increased utilization of Touch ID
- More accessible iCloud
- Simplification of the Notification Center
- Better Siri
- An API for Siri
- URLs in Reminders app
- Better maps
- Reworked Photo Stream
- Improve Photos' Places view
- Reorganize screenshots, messaging, and contacts
And quite a few more. In other words, Viticci implies that there is a lot of work to be done. iOS 7, after all, left a lot to be desired in certain areas:
The fact that iOS 7 could have used more polish and, more importantly, stability without crashes is indisputable.
However, there were a lot of improvements as well and, if nothing else, a lot was changed and added. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how much of the work Viticci wants to see shows up in iOS 8.
