Here’s a case study by WSO2 on eBay‘s use of their open source product in Enterprise Service Bus space – WSO2 ESB. The case study describes in brief the ESB selection process, WSO2′s architectural approach / deployment. WSO2 manages mediation and orchestration within the eBay service-oriented architecture (SOA). Currently the WSO2 ESB instances handle all external traffic loads from different functional areas – shopping, trading, checkout, and mobile, among others – supporting some $2,000 worth of transactions every second.

About WSO2 ESB

WSO2 ESB provides a lightweight mediation platform that is based on and enhances the open source Apache Synapse ESB and is designed for the demands of high-volume SOA implementations. It is part of the award-winning WSO2 Carbon, the industry’s first fully componentized middleware platform. Built on the OSGi specification, WSO2 ESB can be easily customized to specific IT project needs by adding other WSO2 components, providing greater flexibility and agility to meet changing enterprise demands.
