Last October I was in Raleigh, North Carolina speaking at All Things Open.

I gave a lightning talk on how to jump-start a career in open source, in just 6 minutes.

The topic is near and dear to my heart, so as a lightning talk it was fun to promote the full session I gave earlier this summer in one of the most amazing venues I've ever spoken at.

The talk includes links to the recording of that venue and the complete story I told. After the talk, I posted the slides, but we've been waiting on the video recording of the session and it's arrived!

The Recording

I can't tell you how much fun it was in just a few words, but soundly recommend that you put All Things Open on your wish list for 2019. They run a fantastic conference, take good care of their speakers, and the infrastructure is as good as it gets. Below the recording of my talk.

For completeness, here is the original abstract:

Lightning Talk - How to Jump Start a Career in Open Source

It's not wishful thinking. It's not luck. It's not going to happen by itself, so what's the secret sauce? Understanding what makes a career in open source grow, what choices are crucial, and what actions accelerate or damage your open source future are sometimes hard to grasp. Learning to position, expand and grow your personal brand in the open source world is what this session provides. Be ready for your next step in open source.
Date: Tuesday, O23 23
Time: 12:45 PM, local time
Room: main stage in Ballroom B on 4th floor of the Raleigh Convention Center.

Hope to see you at the 2019 conference!
