The power of Eclipse is the ability for different vendors to create developer tools that integrate on a common tools platform.    In the fast growing mobile developer tools market, we are see a wealth of tools being created on top of the Eclipse platform.  Companies like RIM, Nokia, Google Android, Motorola and others all have Eclipse-based mobile developer tools. All these companies rely upon other value-add products, like testing tools, SCM solutions, build tools and others, to complement their developer solutions.  Making sure these tools work together is an important consideration for a successful end-user experience.

This is why I am please to announce  the Eclipse Mobile Plugin-Fest,  a 2-day workshop for companies to participate in interoperability and compatibility testing of their Eclipse-based products.    Each participating company will be able to test their products with a variety of other products in the mobile tools market.   This is a working session,  so for any problems found, there will be plenty of opportunity to work on a solution.

Google Android, Motorola, Nokia and RIM have all confirmed their attendance.   We would like to invite other organizations that have solutions for mobile developers to attend.

The workshop is scheduled for February 23-24 in Mountain View, CA.  Organizations must register to attend. Each organization can send 2 people,  one who  must be a developer working on the product.  Space will be limited so if you are interested, please register today by sending an e-mail to mobilepluginfest@eclipse.org.
