We’re happy to announce the release of Anypoint Studio July 2014 and Mule ESB 3.5.1.  The Anypoint Studio release now contains support for finding Anypoint Templates to help you rapidly integrate systems as well as many usability and productivity improvements. The July 2014 release of Anypoint Studio also contains the Mule ESB 3.5.1 release, which builds on the 3.5.0 release with many bug fixes.

Anypoint Studio July 2014

The July 2014 release Anypoint Studio release contains many improvements targeted at improving your productivity on Anypoint Platform.

Anypoint Templates browser

You can now find Anypoint Templates, templates built to address the most common integration use cases and to help you get successful on Anypoint Platform quickly. You can access the templates by clicking the library button on the toolbar at the top left of Studio.

Streamlined packaged explorer and no more mflow files

Based on your requests, we’ve simplified how to access Mule flows and improved Studio’s ability to work with source control systems by removing the need for mflow files. Now all Mule configuration files can be accessed through src/main/app. The flows folder with the mflow files is no longer needed. Keeping it around, however, will not cause any harm.

What’s New & Migration Wizard

Now, when updating Studio or downloading the new version, a What’s New dialog presents key migration information. In addition, a migration wizard helps you update your existing projects to reflect the adjustments to the project file structure.

And many other improvements…

  • Connector Driver configuration: You can now easily configure JDBC or SAP drivers from the global connector configuration window and receive project errors when drivers are configured incorrectly.

  • DataSense Improvements: DataSense retrieves metadata at a faster speed in this release. You can also easily clear the metadata cache by right clicking on a connector and clicking Clear DataSense Metadata, forcing re-retrieval.

  • Improved Connector Usability: After you drop an Anypoint Connector on the canvas, no operation is pre-selected, ensuring the configuration steps are more clear.

  • XSD Filtering for Anypoint DataMapper: This allows you to import and work with XML schemas by filtering a subset of elements to be mapped. For example, if you have a schema called Invoice with many elements, you can select certain elements, such as purchase orders, to import and map instead of importing the whole schema.

Mule ESB 3.5.1

Simultaneously, we’ve announced the release of Mule ESB 3.5.1, fully supported within Anypoint Studio July 2014. This Enterprise only release (free for evaluation) of Mule ESB features several bug fixes and has been highly anticipated by many of our existing customers.

Within this release, we’ve made performance optimizations to our existing HTTP connector, as well as bug fixes to our latest Mule constructs such as scatter-gather and batch. Finally, we’ve made a performance optimization for the Mule agent needed by Mule Enterprise Management, increasing out-of-the-box performance by freeing more memory and reducing file I/O for statistics collection.
