We were arguing lately about the best hardware and tools for coding. Some insisted that MacBook Pros are the best machines, but some prefer Linux (including Ubuntu and Mint) on a good old ThinkPad. Everyone had their favorite text editor, with Sublime Text a popular choice, as well as their favorite IDE.

But it goes beyond that, too. Some preferred coding at a standing desk, or in a particular locale like a coffee shop. Some had favorite music they liked to listen to, or a favorite ergonomic chair.

So what's yours? What kind of hardware, tooling, and dev environment do you use? Do you code sitting, standing, laying down, listening to music? Do you have any coding quirks or lucky charms?

BloomReach CMS: the API-first CMS of the future. Open-source & enterprise-grade. - As a Java developer, you will feel at home using Maven builds and your favorite IDE (e.g. Eclipse or IntelliJ) and continuous integration server (e.g. Jenkins). Manage your Java objects using Spring Framework, write your templates in JSP or Freemarker. Try for free.
