Best SDN and NFV Demonstrations of 2013 on SDNCentral

SDNCentral's SDN NFV DemoFriday 2013

Looking back at how 2013 was the most amazing year for software-defined networking (SDN) yet, I spent some time browsing the SDN and network functions virtualization (NFV) demos we hosted on SDNCentral during the DemoFriday series this past year.

What was particularly cool was the mix of data center and WAN use cases and of applications such as analytics, security, QoS, OpenFlow, and OpenStack represented across the demos.

(In case you haven’t encountered the series, a DemoFriday is a live webcast and demonstration featuring industry vendors and SDN analyts. You can interact with each SDN and NFV demo from the past year by watching the videos or downloading the podcast, slides, or an English transcript. Check it out here.)

While there are endless ways to rank each demo (i.e. number of registrants/attendees, coolness factor, downloads, video loads/plays, how fun the team was, etc.), it’s impossible for me to pick an absolute favorite.

So, in no particular order, here are my favorite demos of 2013:
