Make sure you didn't miss anything with this list of the Best of the Week in the Agile Zone (March 27 - April 03). Here they are, in order of popularity:
Over the last year, four men who I know well, who I have seen by their actions are champions of women in technology, who have personally mentored me in some way or another, have been accused of sexism. The Sevilla Java User Group, which I started, with my money, which I present at regularly, has had zero female developers attend who were not previously friends. Apparently the impact of visible female role models is far smaller than I imagined. It’s so much work. And it’s thankless.
So I found myself recently being frustrated that my attempts to change a team aren’t meeting my expectations. Unlike me from a number of years ago I’ve become a bit more introspective about things and so I started asking myself some questions:
Process frameworks like Waterfall introduce and maintain a high level of risk over the lifecycle of a project. Agile principles on the other hand, work to deliver value by reducing risk. That’s accomplished through continuous delivery as requirements are discovered.
All the great ideas are just that… great ideas… unless you can put them into practice.
