Sometimes change is difficult. But often it’s a sign of business maturity and of great things to come. For example, startups that were once staffed by only a handful of people have evolved into larger businesses with hundreds and thousands of employees. And, as businesses continue to scale their operations to fit their growing needs, internal changes need to be made to ensure a smooth transition from startup to full-scale enterprise. It’s not easy, but making the right changes can make a big difference.
For many organizations, their current approach to delivering software is limiting their ability to respond as quickly as the business requires and as the market demands. We know how pressing this challenge is for many software organizations, which is why we’ve made scalability across the enterprise a special focus at DevOps World 2021. Our Day 2 keynote presentation, “Two Truths and a Lie About Scalability” will focus on scaling within the enterprise and will highlight scalability as one of our special focus areas for this year’s event. Whether your organization is a rising star or a proven veteran, the conference will also have several sessions focusing on scaling enterprises of every shape, size, region, and industry.
While the principles for scaling DevOps are the same whether your business is five or 500, how it actually looks in practice can be very different. The session “From Startup To Enterprise — Sustainably Scaling” by Alston Rousseau, director of software delivery at Campspot will give attendees an overview of what’s needed to sustainably scale operations, development and culture no matter the size of the organization. Additionally, attendees will learn tips for finding more value with existing commitments to spend time and diversity in DevOps and how this applies to organizations with and without high compliance requirements.
For those who are hoping to see scaling put into practice in real-life situations, we’ll also have a number of sessions from CloudBees customers who have successfully scaled their operations. For example, Code Orange will be sharing its story of how it made the transition from a traditional API/SPA split to a much more technically challenging server-rendered SPA with full cache handover. Niels Hoiting, a developer at Code Orange, will share lessons from Code Orange's transition, pitfalls that can arise in the transition and how to optimize compute spend to best handle a specific workload.
Scaling DevOps in the enterprise can sometimes mean “scaling up” your careers. Savinder Puri, a DevOps evangelist at Zensar Technologies, will lead a session at DevOps World this year designed to help developers and DevOps practitioners at every level “scale their careers.” We want to empower those in the DevOps space to grow with their companies so they can become the innovation leaders of tomorrow. After all, building the future of software will rely on the brightest minds and the creative solutions of the next generation!
