Cassandra and DynamoDB Don't Need Vector Clocks

Built by the engineers behind Netezza and the technology behind Amazon Redshift, AnzoGraph is a native, Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) distributed Graph OLAP (GOLAP) database that executes queries more than 100x faster than other vendors.

A new article on the DataStax blog provides an interesting look at why the vector clocks conflict resolution strategy isn't used in DynamoDB or Apache Cassandra, even though it was used in the early Amazon Dynamo database, which was the ancestor of both Cassandra and DynamoDB.

The article is a good breakdown of vector clocks, and it's a good resource for learning a little more about newer databases in general.  You should also check out the comments, since there is some contention about how the author describes certain aspects.

Download AnzoGraph now and find out for yourself why it is acknowledged as the most complete all-in-one data warehouse for BI style and graph analytics.
