Just two days ago, Citrix acquired Kaviza's VDI-in-a-box technology in hopes of expanding their small and medium business virtualization options. Today Citrix is launching their new infrastructure-as-a-service based on OpenStack, dubbed "Project Olympus" to "help customers build real IaaS clouds that are scalable, efficient, and open-by-design."

"By leveraging OpenStack, Project Olympus inherits all the collective experience and innovation of hundreds of experienced open source cloud developers."

Project Olympus aims to provide "more scalability" and enhancements to "innovate services and apps while dynamically expanding their compute capabilities without capital expense".  The service currently supports Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere, and Citrix is offering early access to qualified participants. The early access program and more information on Project Olympus can be found on the press release from Citrix and from the Project Olympus website.

Now it's easier than ever to get started with MongoDB, the database that allows startups and enterprises alike to rapidly build planet-scale apps. Introducing MongoDB Atlas, the official hosted service for the database on AWS. Try it now! Brought to you in partnership with MongoDB.
