The Cloudcast - Cloud-Enabling Memcached and Redis for NoSQL

The Cloudcast (.net) #72 - Cloud-Enabling Memcached and Redis for NoSQL (19:23)

Date: February 14, 2013

By: Aaron Delp and Brian Gracely

Description: Brian talks with Ofer Bengal (Co-Founder/CEO @Garantiadata) about the challenges and realities of NoSQL databases in the cloud and the value of cloud-enabling services such as Memcached and Redis. We also talked about backing up NoSQL databases and the challenges of transitioning to DevOps models.

Topic 1 - The number of NoSQL databases in the marketplace continues to grow, which typically means there are many opportunities to optimize performance and tooling. Give us some background on Garantia and where you add value to the NoSQL ecosystem.

Topic 2 - Cloud is starting to allow a mix of services to be modularly added to application (security, billing, etc.). But you’re focused on a very heavy function. Give us some idea what a typical environment looks like. How do you get Garantia services near the data/database?

Topic 3 - How much of the Garantia “DNA” (load-balancing, failure-modes, etc.) do you expose to your customers - application developers - so they can better understand how their applications will operate in various situations?

Topic 4 - Are there certain types of applications that work best with Garantia services?
