What is Cloud Connect?

Cloud Connect 2011 is one of this year's largest Silicon Valley gatherings of Cloud contributors. The event began yesterday, March 7th, and runs through Thursday, March 10th. Today marked the beginning of the conference portion of Cloud Connect 2011.  Keynote speakers include representatives from Amazon.com, Microsoft, Cisco, and other top industry contributors. Remote viewers can watch a live feed of the keynote speakers here.

The Open Cloud Initiative

This year's Cloud Connect conference highlights an ongoing effort among corporate leaders to create an open cloud OS.  An interesting highlight of this years Cloud Connect is the collaborative Dell, Opscode and Rackspace demo.  Representatives of the three companies will be demonstrating the first fully-automated provisioning of a multi-node OpenStack cloud.  A seven month collaboration of 50+ industry giants created this first step toward an open, standard cloud operating system.  By combining their creative energies, collaborating corporations hope to expedite the development of a fully open cloud OS.
