Looking for some shortcuts to make Android development a bit easier? This post from Daniel Imms provides just that when it comes to the Android Debug Bridge (adb). It's a no-frills collection of useful adb commands, covering essentials such as how to check what devices are connected, installing and uninstalling applications, starting an activity, and more. It doesn't cover everything - you can check out the adb docs to get all the options - but instead just the need-to-know commands.

Some are fairly obvious, but there are a few gems here that are not the most intuitive commands. For example, Imms points to a simple command from Sergei Shvetsov that takes a screenshot and uses Perl to output it to a local directory. Check out Imms' full post for all the tips and see if there's anything that might make adb more useful for you.

Strategies and techniques for building scalable and resilient microservices to refactor a monolithic application step-by-step, a free O'Reilly book. Brought to you in partnership with Lightbend.
