Sacha Labourey, the former CTO of JBoss and founder of CloudBees, recently reflected on a survey of Jenkins users that indicated a 65% growth year to year with 56,000 active installations.  He offered his own reflections on the wider industry and the role of the cloud in it - here's a little of what he had to say:
The first observation is that the good old world of packaged software is fading away. The cloud comes with a culture of “always on” codebases that are not published as binary blobs that will have to survive your most conservative customers, but, instead, as always “releasable” codebases provided -as-a-service.
