You may recall the controversy that surfaced in December over the naming rights and trademarks surrounding the open source continuous integration engine, Hudson.  As those discussions between Oracle, CloudBees, and other Hudson contributors continued quietly over the holidays, we find today that the project leaders have arrived at a conclusion—it's too risky to be beholden to Oracle for the naming rights of project.  As a result, the project is being renamed to "Jenkins" (which still evokes the 'English butler' theme).  The project will be moved off of Oracle's infrastructure  and a temporary governance board will form.  There is obviously a lot of heated discussion on this news across the web today, which is expected since the project is very popular.

SpringRoo 1.1.1 Hops Forth
Over 250 bugfixes and enhancements are jammed into this 0.0.1 increment of SpringRoo.  This week's 1.1.1 release has more than doubled the speed of 1.1.0, and it includes enhanced support for VMforce, GAE, and GWT.  Plenty of usability feature additions are also available.

Joomla 1.6 Comes With Major New Features
Based on PHP 5.2.x, Joomla 1.6 is a major new version for the popular CMS.  This week's release of Joomla 1.6 removes legacy code from 1.5 and features an Access Control List, which provides full-scale user and rights management.  Admins can define various custom viewing levels and access levels for users.  Check out the Joomla YouTube channel to get an in-depth look at all the new features.

Jaspersoft 4 BI Suite Gets New UI
The free business intelligence suite, Jaspersoft, has reached version 4 this week.  The software features a new user interface an web app architecture.  The software is useful for integrating business intelligence (written in Java) into business applications in a way that makes them accessible to end users.
