A shocker hit the wires today as Eric Schmidt announced on the Google blog that he would be stepping down as the search giant's CEO.  And who will take the helm of the world's most powerful web technology company?  None other than Larry Page, a co-founder of the company.  "Larry, in my clear opinion, is ready to lead.," said Schmidt. As for Sergey, the other founder, Schmidt says, "Sergey has decided to devote his time and energy to strategic projects, in particular working on new products. His title will be Co-Founder."  Meanwhile, Schmidt will move to the Executive Chairman position, where he will focus on business relationships and act as an advisor to Larry and Sergey.
