The new release of Microsoft's cloud computing platform, Microsoft Azure SDK 1.4
has several new added capabilities. Support for multiple
administrators through the enhanced Windows Azure Connect portal
streamlines usage by keeping a log of changes made by each individual
administrator. Windows Azure Connect can now be installed on
non-English versions of Windows. A few of the nastier bugs, including
the RDP bug, have been eliminated.
Legacy Oracle Users Might Pay More for Support in 2011
Current oracle customers might be facing a tough choice: upgrade or pay
for support. Oracle's Premier Support plan extends for five years after
the initial purchase date. In response to the economic downturn in
2009, Oracle waived continuing support fees for several of its products
(PeopleSoft FMS/ESA 8.8, ELS 8.8 and HRMS 8.8, among others). With the
exception of Database 10gR2 and PeopleSoft Enterprise 9, no plans have
been made to extend the waivers for the coming year.
Latest Visual Studio plug-in Beta for Python Slithers into PyCon 2011
Tools for Visual Studio, or PTVS, was presented at PyCon 2011 by
Microsoft. High performance computer clusters enable developers to
scale their code. A Message Passing Interface (MPI) supported by this
beta enables message exchange in parallel computing systems. Go to
Microsoft's PTVS project page to download the beta under an Apache 2.0
license. Another beta of PTVS is scheduled for release this summer, and
the final version should be available in autumn. The second beta will
incorporate PTVS with a cloud-computing model. You can download the new
Arrival of openSUSE 11.4 Announced
The latest incarnation of openSUSE
the 100% open-source, general purpose operating system for Linux, is
available for download. openSUSE 11.4 is based on the 2.6.37 Linux
kernel. Featured desktop interfaces include KDE SC 4.6 and the
recently-released GNOME 2.32. Also new to openSUSE 11.4 is Tumbleweed
an ever-updating repository of stable openSUSE versions that are
easily-accessible to users. Tumbleweed replaces "Factory," a similar
feature that was comprised openSUSE configurations that were less
