Coherence 3.7, Oracle's distributed in-memory data grid product, is available for early adopters today.  Since the last Coherence release, the Oracle Coherence team has been putting a great deal of effort into efficiently managing Coherence's Java Virtual Machine infrastructure.  Vice President of Development, Cameron Purdy, spilled the details:

With this release of Coherence, we’re making incredibly more efficient use of memory, both inside and outside of the JVM. And we’re managing that memory space with a level of efficiency the industry hasn’t seen before. With Coherence 3.7, we can manage four times as much data in the same sized heap space.

Tapper Framework from AMD Automates Testing

Designed to "automate all aspects of testing," AMD's free ' Tapper' framework has is available for developer download.  Essentially, 'Tapper' is a collection of Perl programs that have been in use for the past several years.  Several modules for automation improve network booting, setting up a computer, and using Xen for virtualization.  Support is provided for Perl and Python, as well as an integrated Shell script.  The framework is available for download on GitHub.

Apache Sling Version 6 Swings Into Action

The release of Apache's Java Content Repository and OSGi based web framework, Sling Version 6 comes 22 months after the release of Version 5.  Most notable among the improvements is the updating of the JCR Java Specifications Request (JSR) number.  Version 6 also includes a feature that tracks project statistics.  Sling 6 can be downloaded as a Java application, web app, or Maven Artifact. 

Release of Kolab Server 2.3.0

Version 2.3.0 of the Kolab groupware server has been released for general use.  This is the first stable version the Kolab server to combine the various development efforts from the past two years.  New, key features include:
  • Z-push Synchronization: transmits updates to mobile devices.
  • A re-imagined web interface for administrators.
  • Expanded user account options.
  • Numerous bug fixes.
