Today, enterprises are tasked with creating smarter applications and delivering near-immediate business results. With traditional business intelligence tools, that’s hard to do because it can take weeks or months to create an analytic application.

But as Actuate customers have come to know, BIRT iHub is a browser-based solution for document delivery, data analysis and building reports. The server software lets users securely access data in many different ways:

  • View and share interactive reports and dashboards
  • Analyze data in cross tabs and tables
  • Extract data from caches and stores of data

Actuate is about to release BIRT iHub 3.1, which delivers advanced visualization to any mobile device, enabling customers to have instant access to their information when and where they need it.

The updated software allows development teams to simplify the process of creating and deploying data driven apps. Its REST API makes embedding BIRT content in mobile and Web applications easy. This allows businesses to deliver rich charts, dashboards and infographics to their mobile and desktop users very quickly.

BIRT iHub 3.1 also incorporates data visualization from even more third-party libraries of charts and graphs into BIRT output, boosting productivity by reducing manual coding from days to hours.

During Data Driven Summit 2014 – Actuate’s annual series of customer events – VP of Product Marketing & Innovation, Allen Bonde (@abonde) along with Mark Gamble (@heygamble) and Pierre Tessier (@puckpuck) delivered a “must-see” live demo session that explored some of the advanced features in BIRT iHub 3.1. Here’s that discussion at the first Data Driven Summit in Santa Clara, Calif.

We believe data driven applications are the next big thing, and provide a vivid look at how – with integrated Big Data access, a growing set of open APIs, plus Actuate’s unique data objects, rich visualizations, granular security and more – the BIRT iHub is the future of embedded analytics.

BIRT iHub version 3.1 will be available worldwide by the end of 2014. A freemium-based BIRT iHub F-Type for 3.1 will also be available worldwide at the same time.

We’ll be posting more of the Data Driven Summit 2014 video series here, including the other demonstrations, BIRT data visualization insights and panel discussions with industry insiders.
