DevOpsDays is coming to Vancouver, BC, on October 25th and 26th, woohoo! The conference format is simple: talks in the morning, and open spaces in the afternoon. There have been 23 very successful events on five continents now, and we’re looking forward to the first ever Northwest-coast DevOpsDays. It also happens to be the first DevOpsDays in Canadian, eh?

DevOpsDays is a grassroots event for folks in the field connecting, sharing war stories, advice, ideas, and tools relating to DevOps. It is organized by people who care about DevOps.

A portmanteau of development and operations, DevOps is perhaps best thought of as a cultural movement within the IT world. It stresses communication, collaboration and integration between software developers and operations professionals. DevOps is a response to, and evolution of, the interdependence of software development and IT operations.

The conference will be held at the comfy Vancity Theater. Tickets include full access to the talks and spaces, as well as catered breakfast and lunch both days, and entrance to a hosted evening event which will be taking place at Steamworks. The evening event will also include drinks vouchers and food.

What’s more, we’re currently offering early bird pricing: 27 percent off of the regular ticket price (why 27? why not!?). This is a limited-time offer (until September 18th), so don’t delay!

The call for proposals is open until September 23, so send in your proposal! Also, if you know someone who would be a great speaker or somebody you would like to see, let us know! This is a community-driven event, so we want your input.

Finally, we invite you to peruse the list of proposals, and to comment and vote for your favorite ones!

The organizers are Phil Whelan (ActiveState), Dave Whiteley (StrongLoop), Natalie Murray (Demonware), Kelcey Damage (Backbone Technology), Jonathan Thorpe (Serena), Vincent Janelle, as well as Jenny Yang and Sean Rousseau from right here at Metafor Software. You can find us here on Twitter.
