US Sues Oracle
The US Department of Justice is suing Oracle, according to a WSJ report. The suit claims that Oracle overcharged the federal government tens of millions of dollars because it didn't give them the same discounts that other customers received. The deep discounts were guaranteed to everyone, including the US government, because of the terms in a General Services Administration contract.
Rough Preview of Extension Sync in Chrome
The Chromium developers have added a lucrative new feature to the developer builds in Chrome - Extensions Synchronization. It's going to be a very convenient feature when it's finished because you won't need to download all of your extensions for each individual machine. This feature is in the very early stages and it is not enabled by default because it has some tendency to crash.
FFmpeg Now Supports WebM
With the release of FFmpeg 0.6, the free tool and library package for recording and converting media files now supports the WebM codecs. Code named "Works with HTML5," The 0.6 version includes a number of upgrades several codecs for HTML5 video. FFmpeg is licensed under the LGPL or GPL depending on the configuration used.
