Some big iPhone and Android news broke today - first, there was the iPhone 4 release, which may have reached record-breaking sales levels.  However, there were a few problems with the phone that users noticed today as they brought home their pretty new toys.  First, the screen displayed a light yellow dot in the corner for some people, but it also went away for others.  The reception also suffered immensely for some people when they touched the sides (their hands interfering with the new perimeter antenna somehow).  Buying a case seems to fix the problem, and it's probably a good idea since the iPhone 4 easily breaks and scratches.  In Android news, Motorola revealed the Droid X, which comes with a 1GHz processor, 8-megapixel auto-focus camera (with dual LED flash, high shutter speeds, and 720p HD video recording), 8GB built-in memory with a SD card slot (up to 32GB on that), and finally a much welcomed HDMI port.

SEC Gets Python Modules
ActiveState, a company that specializes in dynamic languages, released ActivePython modules today specifically to streamline the process of financial firms complying with newly proposed rules from the US Securities and Exchange Commissions.  It was just a few months ago that members suggested that files written in Python be used to simplify complex (legal language) reports for the SEC.  The new packages, NumPy and SciPy, are for data centric scientific computing and financial modeling applications.
