At this week's JBoss World and Red Hat Summit, Red Hat announced the final released the final version of the JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0.  The EPP is a middlware framework for developing, deploying, and managing web portals.  A new site publisher module is powered by open source partner eXo, which lets non-IT people handle content management.  EPP 5.0 includes new features such as a gadget container, Portlet Bridge 2.0, JBoss Cache, JBoss Web Services, JBoss Microcontainer, and a redesigned UI.

Facebook Looking to Make its Own Search Engine?
SEO is now being done for Facebook's Open Graph as the company might be on its way to launching a social semantic search engine.  Facebook confirmed with allfacebook.com that all of its Open Graph enabled web pages would show up in search results when a user likes them.  These search results are now officially showing up as Facebook search results

This week, Skype gave developers a toolkit with components and APIs that can be used to add VoIP software on web sites and internet capable devices.  It's also known as "headless Skype," because SkypeKit doesn't require the Skype client.  This first release is meant for device manufacturers who want to implement kype in smartphones and tablets.  The next version will be tailored towards desktop and web app development.

Open Source Cocoa for Windows/Linux
A new project on Google Code features an cross-platform implementation of Objective-C's API.  The implementation, called Cocoatron, is similar Foundation and AppKit frameworks.  This project will make it possible to port your Cocoa code to Windows or Linux.
