IE Recovering in Browser Share
The Netmarketshare stats this month reveal that Internet Explorer usage has gone up in the two months since it dipped below 60% in market share. Their number grew by 0.42% in July while other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome lost ground. Firefox dropped by 0.9%. Opera and Safari grew slightly. This seems to be a reverse of the trends for the last few months, except that Firefox has been losing a lot of ground this year.
Explosive Growth in Android Shipments
While some people were waiting for the release of the iPhone 4, worldwide shipments of Android phones increased sharply in Q2 2010 - by 886%. This number comes from the research firm Canalys, who also says that the overall global smartphone market grew by 64% with Nokia retaining the worldwide lead in market share at 38%. Android's growth is due to the large number of vendors making Android phones and the increasing popularity of the OS itself.
