Q. If we gave you carte blanche to work on anything for six months, what would you work on?
There is no right answer to the above interview question, but there is a wrong answer.
A. Wherever I have worked, I have been told what to do.
As important as it is for an interviewer to present potential opportunities for personal and professional growth, it is even more important for an interviewee to show that they can be anticipatory and are genuinely interested in contributing to improving the quality of a software product and its surrounding ecosystem. Even when working in an environment where you are constantly told what to do, opportunities to improve yourself and/or a product will continuously present themselves.
