Excelsior JET 7.0 beta 3: Hide Tomcat configuration files

Free Resource

Excelsior JET is a compliant Java SE 6 implementation (JVM) with an Ahead-Of-Time compiler and deployment toolkit.

The next version will enable you to protect your Tomcat Web applications against reverse engineering and tampering by deploying them as optimized native code executables, without the original class/WAR files and with no dependency on the JDK.

Excelsior JET 7.0 Beta 3 has just come out, with the final release scheduled for Dec 2009.

New in Beta 3:

The graphical interface now supports setup and compilation of Tomcat projects. Packaging is still command-line only.

Beta testers told us they do not want their customers and prospects inspect or modify their Apache Tomcat configuration files, so beta 3 adds the capability to hide the Tomcat conf/ directory and its contents.

Another new feature is Tomcat customization. Now you may extend the boot classpath, change the main class and the Windows service main class, and specify additional VM options for the Tomcat server.

Beta 3 supports more recent Java versions: Java SE 6.0 Update 16 (1.6.0_16) and J2SE 5.0 Update 21 (1.5.0_21).
