We had another NetBeans Platform training for Masters students at the University of Belgrade in Serbia. It was a brief 4 hour training during the "Software Tools and Methods" course that lasts about two weeks and includes 12 different topics.
Students reponded very well and they were very interested in the NetBeans Platform as the basis of their applications. The training included a short 1 hour introduction to NetBeans Platform and modular applications, 1 hour simple "hello world" example, and 2 hour CD Catalog example which shows how to work with TopComponents, Wizards and multiple modules. The training materials are available for download here.
A short survey after the training showed that 82% of students lliked the NetBeans Platform topic and 64% of students think that it will be benefitial for their future work. That's actually a very good result compared to other topics taught during the same course. These results show us that we should offer extended NetBeans Platform trainings as part of regular courses that we teach.
So, in our future work, we'll improve the existing materials and make some new teaching materials and examples that we'll use for our courses and we'll be glad to share those materials with other universities and get some feedback. We'll keep you informed!
