what is kotlin?
project kotlin is the codename of a statically-typed language that targets the jvm and javascript, developed by jetbrains. the main goal behind the project is to create a general-purpose language that would be a good tool for developers, meaning safe, concise, flexible and 100% java-compatible. both the compiler and the intellij idea plugin are open source under the apache 2 license.
