BREDEX GmbH announced today the release of the automated GUI testing tools GUIdancer in versions 1.2 and 6.0. The new versions of both tools have a strong focus on test analysis to simplify the integration of testing into the development process. Alongside more detailed test reporting in both tools, GUIdancer builds on Jubula to offer a new web-based Dashboard to allow test result analysis in the browser. GUIdancer also now includes the option to create error reports directly from failed test reports.
“Testing is an integral part of the development process”, said Achim Lörke, Project Lead for Jubula and GUIdancer. “One important facet of this integration is test result reporting. In an environment where tests are run frequently, it is critical that the results are easy to analyze and communicate so that teams can benefit from the prompt feedback”.
The addition of detailed test result information such as data used and the cumulative duration of the test gives testers working with both tools a clearer overview of the test results. Testers working with GUIdancer will be able to save time by creating error reports in various bug-tracking systems directly from the test results in GUIdancer. GUIdancer also offers a new Dashboard component to make test result analysis possible in the browser.
Alongside the extensions to test result analysis, the new versions allow the use of functions as a new option for test data. Mathematical and date functions are provided out-of-the-box, and further functions can be added as extensions. A new metrics framework permits the analysis of test projects to gain information about their structure, and various improvements have been made to make writing automated tests easier, such as categorization for test suites, quicker feedback on missing data and more comfortable creation of new tests from existing ones.
A full list of new features can be found in the GUIdancer release notes and on the Jubula Project Page. Jubula is an open source project at the Eclipse Foundation, which was contributed by BREDEX GmbH. BREDEX also develops GUIdancer to add additional features for more comfort and productivity when testing. BREDEX offers training and support for GUIdancer and Jubula, either on-site at BREDEX or individually at customer locations.
