While the insights retrieved from the research continue to change as more employees are surveyed, one finding has remained constant: employees seek recognition.

But in order to be recognized, employees first have to accomplish their goals — and employees aren’t always set up for success.

I’ve worked at the biggest B2B software companies in the world and have seen firsthand how frustrated employees become when they don’t hit a goal they’ve been working toward all quarter.
There are a couple of reasons for this failure. More often than not, employees are doing repetitive and mind-numbing tasks that don’t lead to the results managers are likely to praise them for. These rote tasks typically include answering customer support questions that have been asked before, data entry, or figuring out which leads should be prioritized and pursued each day. While these responsibilities are important, the tasks prevent employees from hitting their goals and receiving the recognition they need to maintain their engagement.
Why Businesses Need to Prioritize Work-Life Balance
