Let's take a look at how AI-powered conversation automations empower employees to hit their goals.

Bias comes in a variety of forms, all of them potentially damaging to the efficacy of your ML algorithm. Read how Alegion's Chief Data Scientist discusses the source of most headlines about AI failures here.

Employees will tell you what they want. In fact, Officevibe, the leader in employee engagement software, tracks the state of employee engagement in real time. The research represents over 150 countries, more than 1,000 organizations, and includes north of 1.2 million data points. While the insights retrieved from the research continue to change as more employees are surveyed, one finding has remained constant: employees seek recognition.

Praise is the number one motivator that increases employee engagement. This finding shouldn’t be surprising. Of course, employees want to be recognized for their hard work and achievements. But in order to be recognized, employees first have to accomplish their goals — and employees aren’t always set up for success.

If employees are unable to experience success at work on a regular basis, then business leaders will notice a decrease in engagement and employees will have a poor quality of life. I’ve worked at the biggest B2B software companies in the world and have seen firsthand how frustrated employees become when they don’t hit a goal they’ve been working toward all quarter.

There are a couple of reasons for this failure. More often than not, employees are doing repetitive and mind-numbing tasks that don’t lead to the results managers are likely to praise them for. These rote tasks typically include answering customer support questions that have been asked before, data entry, or figuring out which leads should be prioritized and pursued each day. While these responsibilities are important, the tasks prevent employees from hitting their goals and receiving the recognition they need to maintain their engagement.

Why Businesses Need to Prioritize Work-Life Balance

Companies, especially B2B ones, should care about their employees' accomplishing their goals if they expect to keep those employees long-term.

It’s no secret that happy employees are more productive than their unhappy counterparts. People who enjoy their jobs are more likely to go the extra mile to help a customer, complete a goal ahead of schedule, or fill in for a coworker.

Happiness can even be contagious. Just as one miserable employee can spread bad vibes throughout the whole office, a small group of engaged employees can keep spirits high when stress begins to build. Employees feed off one another’s energy, leaning on their coworkers for a boost of strength when they feel overwhelmed. In the best work environments, employees help one another hit their goals and handle customers, creating a team-first atmosphere that promotes a sense of belonging — one of the key ingredients of happiness at work.

Of course, the most obvious benefit of employee happiness is its effect on another group: customers. Workers who don’t stalk around with a stressed-out aura are far more likely to provide great customer support, which increases the likelihood that customers will return. For B2B companies, which have long sales cycles, a single bad interaction can tank a partnership that took months to cultivate. Happy employees don’t have to be chipper 24/7, but when they feel positive about their employers and their work, they are far less likely to let a bad day ruin the possibility of closing a deal.

The benefits of a happy workforce covered so far primarily deal with short-term benefits. However, higher employee satisfaction leads to several long-term advantages, too. Businesses that invest in engagement and success enjoy lower turnover rates because happy people rarely look for new jobs. These companies also gain a subtle (but still powerful) bonus: when the rare employee does leave, that employee has nothing but good things to say about the employer. Amid a raging war for talent, endorsements like that are invaluable.

Conversation Bots Lead to Goal Achievement

So, happy employees are important. But how can companies make more of them?

The answer is obvious — empower employees to reach their goals by giving them tools that make their jobs easier. Which tools qualify for the job varies from one industry to the next, but lately, companies have begun to turn to a new kind of technology that packs a serious punch: AI-powered conversation bots.

Surprised? Conversation bots can create massive reductions in employee stress by augmenting their capabilities with them. These versatile tools use AI and Machine Learning to talk to prospects and customers like a human would, gauging their interests and collecting information along the way.

For B2B companies specifically, this lifts a huge weight from human shoulders. Conversation bots free salespeople and marketers from the need to collect contact information through forms or cold call a lead list. When employees want to take breaks, AI-powered conversation bots keep going, and employees can leave their desks without fear that the sky will fall in their absence. All those tiny tasks that create the bulk of employee frustrations — data collection and entry, directionless conversations, base-level customer support, etc. — melt away when conversation bots are added to the workforce.

Employees deserve tools that help them achieve their goals, and businesses deserve employees who are engaged at work job. By adding conversation bots to the workforce both parties get increased efficiency while customers enjoy better experiences. It’s a win for everyone. Best of all, since conversation bots are already on the market, companies don’t have to wait for the indefinite future to make the change. By implementing conversation bots and empowering employees to hit their goals, increasing engagement and efficiency can happen quicker than most business leaders think.
