How to Implement Dynamic Type on iOS 7

A recent post from John Szumski's blog provides a tutorial on the implementation of Dynamic Type for iOS 7. Dynamic Type is a new addition in iOS 7 that allows users to change font sizes across the entire OS, including third party apps, as long as they support it. It's a useful feature, but obviously could cause some problems for developers. Szumski's post covers everything you need to know:

  • How to use the system-wide text size
  • How to respond to changes
  • How to incorporate custom fonts while using Dynamic Type
  • Other limitations

Dynamic Type is likely a feature that a lot of users are going to take advantage of, and nothing makes an app feel out of date faster than failing to keep up with shiny new OS features. Check out Szumski's full post for the complete tutorial, and keep your apps flexible.
