Learn From the Original DevOps and Jenkins Experts

Who better to learn about DevOps adoption from than the co-author of The DevOps Handbook? Jez Humble, CTO of DevOps Research & Assessment LLC, has spent his career tinkering with code, infrastructure, and product development in companies of all sizes around the world. Humble will be delivering the industry keynote, where he will discuss how to implement DevOps principles and practices, how to overcome typical obstacles, and the outcomes DevOps can provide. He’ll also be presenting a session about how to lead a DevOps transformation. He’ll go over what DevOps is and what it isn’t from a leadership perspective. If there’s anyone to learn about DevOps from, it’s Jez Humble.

Attendees also have the chance to hear from the founder of the Jenkins Project and CTO of CloudBees, Kohsuke Kawaguchi. Kawaguchi will be giving the community keynote where he’ll highlight the transformation that has occurred in the Jenkins community this year. He’ll be joined by CloudBees CEO Sacha Labourey, who will discuss new updates from CloudBees and exciting news about the transformations taking place across industries as a result of DevOps and CD adoption. Kawaguchi will also be leading a session about driving digital transformation with Jenkins, offering examples from how CloudBees used Jenkins to transform its internal build, test and release processes.

Leading the Way or Learning the Basics

The first two days of the conference will be dedicated to trainings, workshops, and certification exams. Trainings range in experience level, so there is something for everyone, whether you’re leading the DevOps charge or looking to support a transformation that has just started.

Those just starting out in their DevOps journey can attend a number of introductory workshops including Introduction to Jenkins and the Intro to Plugin Development Workshop. Attendees will get an overview of the Jenkins ecosystem and community and learn about key concepts and tools related to continuous integration (CI) and CD. They will also be introduced to the Jenkins plugin ecosystem and terminology, which will arm them to navigate the project codebase to find answers to their questions.

Those looking to lead a DevOps transformation can attend the DevOps Leader Certification Training, which will include a practical understanding of many important concepts such as the differences between DevOps IT and traditional IT, as well as important cultural and business considerations. Note that registrants must have proof of DevOps Foundation Certification before taking the DevOps Leader exam.

Hear How Others Are Doing DevOps Across Industries

The two days following the trainings and workshops will be full of sessions spanning seven tracks. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear first-hand how IT teams across various industries have implemented DevOps and CD and what’s worked or hasn’t worked for them. Want to see how a Fortune 500 financial services company uses Git flow and Jenkins to test every commit to source control? Then check out Capital One’s session “Lightning Talk 2: Multi-Branch Pipelines at Capital One For Fun and Profit.” You can also join Verizon’s lightning talk “Scaling Jenkins for the Enterprise” to hear about Verizon’s journey with Jenkins.

Kevin Burnett, DevOps Lead at Rosetta Stone, will discuss how they’ve struggled through organizational change and how they overcame those challenges. Burnett will walk through some of the technical, structural, and people-related areas that helped them to succeed with their DevOps transformation.

Whether you’re tasked with leading your organization’s DevOps journey or you’re part of the team that will be impacted by it, Jenkins World can help you. With hundreds of experts to learn from and network with, this is a conference you can’t afford to miss. Go ahead and register today using the DZone code: JWDZOCUST.
