How will work change in the sharing economy?

Over the last year or so the future of work has been one of the more enduring topics of conversation in professional circles.  For instance, there has been considerable discussion around the role of social and mobile technologies on the workplace, whilst the rise of automation has also garnered considerable debate.

What of the sharing economy?  Is it facilitating the eventual shift towards the free agent nation popularized by Dan Pink several years ago where we go from project to project, earning gigs via the various marketplaces that are springing up online?

What are the potential upsides and downsides of such a shift in the economy, and for the workers providing the services themselves?  The following talk discusses these very issues and is well worth watching if you’re interested in this field.

It features Shelby Clark from the sharing economy trade group Peers, Steven Strauss from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton and Wingham Rowan from Beyond Jobs.

I hope you enjoy it.
