Hortonworks Sandbox for HDP and HDF is your chance to get started on learning, developing, testing and trying out new features. Each download comes preconfigured with interactive tutorials, sample data and developments from the Apache community.

Hadoop users might be interested in Hunk, an analytics tool recently released by Splunk that allows users to analyze and visualize data in Hadoop. Working with the kind of data one generally needs Hadoop for can be challenging and unwieldy, and good analytics can go a long way toward making data useful. Big data isn't worth much, after all, unless some sense can be made of it.

A web framework supporting Django, JavaScript and XML, along with SDKs for Java and most of the primary web development languages (Python, Ruby, PHP, and so on), means that a lot of work can be done on top of Hadoop and Hunk, and that it should be a pretty flexible tool for any developers interested in analytics.

Check out the full overview of Hunk for more details, and download it here. Maybe you'll be able to get to know your Hadoop data a little bit better!
