To celebrate its sixth month on the web, Windows Phone Parent has launched Familia Windows Phone, the first Spanish review site for Windows Phone apps that enhance the lives of kids and their parents.  The Spanish counterpart of Windows Phone Parent, Familia Windows Phone caters directly to key markets like Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Spain, and its launch has been described as a logical next step for the Windows Phone Parent team.

Sandra Sears, co-founder of Windows Phone Parent and Familia Windows Phone, said, “Ever since we started, our main goal has been to help parents find amazing, family-friendly apps.  Windows Phone Parent already allows us to get the word out about a lot of apps, but most of what we’ve reviewed and promoted are only in English.  I have a dynamic, bilingual family that uses Windows Phones every day.  When we use our phones, we frequently switch back and forth between English and Spanish, so we have a good idea of what apps would work for English-speaking and Spanish-speaking Windows Phone users.  It just feels logical for us to reach more people by having sites in English as well as Spanish.”

Windows Phone Parent currently has a catalog of over one hundred apps. Reviews have been published for 47 apps, and 43 apps were submitted by their own developers for promotion. These numbers continue to increase as app developers and app users submit new titles for inclusion in the site’s catalog.  The cataloged apps are also promoted on Facebook, Twitter, and more recently, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest, Vimeo, and Delicious; their reviews are mostly in written form, but a couple of them have been made into videos, the latest of which begins the Windows Phone Tales series launched two months ago.  Familia Windows Phone, though completely in Spanish, will adopt these same features and strategies used by its sister site.

Familia Windows Phone and Windows Phone Parent have a common goal of creating an online community of Windows Phone parents and developers. To further help developers reach out to Windows Phone users in Spanish-speaking markets, Familia Windows Phone will translate English app descriptions on the Windows Phone Marketplace in Spanish-speaking markets.

About Familia Windows Phone:
Familia Windows Phone is the Spanish sister site of Windows Phone Parent.  It was created by Sandra and Patrick Sears, a couple with a technology and education background, with the goal of assisting parents in finding quality entertainment and education apps for Windows Phone.  Like Windows Phone Parent, Familia Windows Phone not only offers app reviews but also gives parents suggestions on how to incorporate the apps into their child’s everyday learning experience.  The website includes Facebook and Twitter links that allow parents, educators, and app developers to communicate with each other.  Familia Windows Phone hopes to break the language barrier between English-speaking developers and Spanish-speaking parents looking for amazing Windows Phone apps.
