Apple unveiled the iPhone X, its first premium-tier phone, at an event in Cupertino, CA, on Tuesday. Here is everything you want to learn about iPhone X (pronounced ‘10,’ not ‘ex’) and iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

In case you’re already wondering, yes, the fingerprint sensor is conspicuous by its absence. Face ID, a facial recognition system, replaces the Touch ID, which has been a part of Apple devices since 2013’s iPhone 5S, on iPhone X.

Face ID is enabled by the TrueDepth camera, is simple to set up, and already works with Apple Pay. It projects and analyzes more than 30,000 invisible dots to create a precise depth map of your face.

iPhone X is doing away from a bezel of any sort whatsoever. The display screen covers the entire front of the phone, save for a little space on the top to accommodate the earpiece and camera.

The screen isn’t like any screen you have seen of an iPhone. The IPS display is gone. Replacing it is an OLED display with a contrast ratio of 1, 000, 000: 1. The new screen will show true blacks and reproduce accurate, stunning colors.

Consequently, this left no room for the home button, and Apple did not shy away from omitting it. What emerges is the most beautiful smartphone ever.

A stunning smartphone like the iPhone X requires an equally stunning app experience to complement its aesthetics. Peerbits develops iOS app.

Apple introduced some smart gestures with iOS 11 to make navigation natural and intuitive. Instead of pressing a button, a single swipe takes you home from anywhere. iPhone app developers don’t have to update their app to make it compatible with new gestures as the setting is baked into the OS.

To go home, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. To see other apps, swipe up from the bottom and pause—now you see the multitasking pane.

Qi wireless charging is already in use for the Apple Watch, and will now be integrated into iPhones, including the three new entrants: iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. While you can charge your iPhone X on any Qi-compatible charging pad. Apple has introduced the AirPower mat to charge iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods anywhere wirelessly.

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are unnecessary upgrades if you are already on iPhone 7 or 7 Plus already. To make way for wireless charging, Apple has added a glass back, and of course, the yearly bump up in chip speeds with the A11 ‘Bionic’ and increased storage options.

There are tweaks to the screen to allow true tone and new lighting effects for portrait images. In a sense, Apple has performed the minimum viable upgrade to the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.
