Jesse Liberty announced on his blog yesterday that he is leaving Microsoft, after almost five years, to become a XAML Evangelist at Telerik.

My experiences at Microsoft were terrific, and I had the opportunity to meet and come to know some great and very bright folks.  I had the chance to work with the Silverlight community from its formative days, and to see XAML become a crucial markup language for Silverlight, WPF, Windows Phone 7 and much more.

-- Jesse Liberty

Apparently the lure Telerik's controls and culture, along with the opportunity to work with Chris Sells again, who also recently made the move from Microsoft to Telerik, were too much for Jesse to resist.

Some feel that Jesse's announcement is a sign of bigger things transpiring behind the scene:

Mike may be reading a little too much into the tea leaves here.  While Silverlight, along with WPF, is technically being replaced by XAML, the similarities for developers should prevent any major hiccups.  Still, it will be interesting to keep an eye on how things develop at both Telerik and Microsoft.
