It's always important to know your audience, and with that in mind, Android developers are in luck: Google has released its latest data from the Android Platform Dashboards, so you can tell what version of Android users are using, what screen sizes and densities, and their Open GL version.

For a look at the stats with more context, though, Dave Smith at Double Encore, Inc. has put together a nice overview of Google's numbers as gathered from five of Double Encore's apps. Some things are pretty much what you'd expect, while others are surprising. A few interesting facts:

  • 60% of users run Jelly Bean, compared to Google's global number of 33.5%
  • 85% of users are in the US
  • 57.5% of users are on Samsung devices
  • 17% of users are on the Samsung Galaxy S3 in particular

Obviously this data is not universal, as it comes from Double Encore's numbers, but it's an interesting look at a particular subset of Android users. The Android Developers Console makes it pretty easy to find this information, too, so be sure to check it out in your own apps.
