On December 11th, we released the DZone Guide to Microservices: Breaking Down the Monolith. This was the first Microservices Guide we'd ever released, and it exceeded our expectations in terms of permission. So far, the Microservices Guide has been downloaded over 17,000 times.
In addition, we published the following Refcardz:
The 2017 DZone Community Awards Winners
As 2017 drew to a close, we at DZone wanted to show our appreciation for the awesome authors who made 2017 a huge success for our community. We selected ten categories for our end-of-year awards, and chose the winners through a variety of methods, including a survey of our active contributors. On December 18th, we announced the ten winners - congrats to all!
Editors' Picks: Cate Lawrence, Gabriele Tomassetti, James Sugrue, and Aditya Vempathy
As a tech journalist, Zone Leader Cate Lawrence spends a lot of time at conferences, and she recently wrote a thought-provoking article on encouraging diversity at these events. Her post, "Can the Diversity Problem in Tech Conferences be Solved?," offers concrete, actionable solutions for this hot-button issue.
MVB Gabriele Tomassetti recently published an awesome 9-part series on DZone all about parsing algorithms. Now, he has another extensive series in the works about tools on libraries for Python. Gabriele is an expert on these topics but breaks them down in a way that is easy to understand. Check out his first post in the new series, "Parsing in Python: Tools and Libraries."
Congratulations to James Sugrue, who recently celebrated his tenth anniversary as a Zone Leader. Yes, you read that correctly! James is by far our longest-running Zone Leader, and one of our most prolific. In his decade with the DZone team, he's written over 700 articles, posted more than 800 comments, authored numerous Refcardz and Guide articles, and took part in a Zone Leader Smackdown. Thank you, James!
Finally, we'd like to say thanks to Aditya Vempathy for this fantastic Agile Zone post, "6 Essential Mental Models for Product Managers," which offers interesting advice about problem solving through creating and adjusting mental models. Plus, it contains some great visualization graphics!
