June's Publications
On June 26th, we released the DZone Guide to Java: Development and Evolution. Java is our most popular topic, and each year thousands of developers around the world download the Java Guide. This year's Guide, however, was particularly popular, receiving nearly 17k downloads in just a week and a half.
We also released the following four Refcardz last month:
The AI Zone is Coming!
In honor of the upcoming launch of the AI Zone, we've created a brand-new contributor contest. The trAIn your brAIn contest began July 3rd and will run until July 20th. So far, we've received over forty entries, including a few from Zone Leaders Cate Lawrence and Tim Spann. The contributor with the most AI posts will win a prize, as will the ten contributors with the most cumulative pageviews. AI posts count for QUADRUPLE pageviews, so get your posts about machine learning and/or android overlords in soon! Read the full contest rules.
Say Hello to Our Newest Zone Leader
We'd like to welcome Charles-Antoine Richard, the latest addition to our Zone Leader roster. Charles is the Marketing Director and Business Strategist at Arcbees, a company that is both a service provider and product developer with a proficiency for projects involving artificial intelligence and machine learning. Charles' passion for emerging technological solutions like artificial intelligence makes him the ideal person to manage the AI Zone.
Editors' Picks: Marco Santarossa, Robert Cordray, Carol McDonald, Javin Paul, and John Vester
We'd like to give a huge thank-you to Marco Santarossa, a new MVB who has given us a ton of great Swift content for the Mobile Zone. Check out his latest post, "Network Reachability With Swift."
Robert Cordray is a new contributor to DZone who's been very passionate about submitting good content to the site. After having a couple of submissions rejected, he continued to listen to feedback and submitted an A+ Big Data article about the benefits of data visualization that's received over 2.5k views in less than 24 hours!
As a kickoff for our AI Zone prelaunch, we have Carol McDonald's excellent series on machine learning, "Monitoring Real-Time Uber Data Using Apache APIs." In the words of DZone reader Guglielmo Iozzia, "I recommend this article to developers who are starting with ML in Spark. It is probably one of the best I have read so far from a learning perspective. Well done, Carol."
Congrats to Javin Paul, a first-time contributor whose debut post on DZone was the top article for the entire month of June. Check out his post, "Thoughts on Passing Oracle's Java Certifications," which has received nearly 42K view.
Finally, we'd like to give a shoutout to longtime Zone Leader John Vester. His original articles have been on fire lately! We highly recommended his most recent Security Zone post, "Anthem Agrees to Record-Breaking Data Breach Settlement."
Opinions expressed by DZone contributors are their own.
