We released not one but two Research Guides last month; the first was the DZone Guide to Game Development: Building Immersive Worlds. Game dev is a new topic for us and it was great to see the Guide getting some traction. On March 26th, we published the DZone Guide to Performance: Testing and Tuning, which has earned over 8,000 downloads in less than 2 weeks.
Also, we published the REST API Security Refcard - check out the sleek new Refcard page design if you haven't already!
Introducing Jo Stichbury
"Jo Stichbury (@fluffymaccoy on Twitter) is a freelance technical writer who was, once upon a time, a C/C++ developer who wrote extensively about development for Symbian smartphones. These days she is more focussed on data science and AI, though also writes about software development best practice, computer games, the future of work, electric and driverless vehicles and clean transport."
Jo is currently a technical writer at GRAKN.AI and has already written some fantastic articles for Zone, including two Bounty posts. Welcome, Jo!
One Month of Microservices
On March 15th, we celebrated the Microservices Zone's one-month birthday. Congrats to Shamik Mitra, whose "Building Microservices Using Spring Boot and Docker - Part 1" post earned over 23,500 pageviews and became the Zone's top new post. Also, we want to thank Erik Lupander for sharing his multi-part "Go Microservices" article series to the Zone.
This was DZone's most successful Zone launch to date, and we have no one to thank for that but our contributors!
Editors' Picks: Shashank Gupta, John Vester, and Dan McGhan
Congratulations to Shashank Gupta; his article "10 Machine Learning Algorithms You Should Know to Become a Data Scientist" received nearly 47,000 pageviews and almost 70 likes. That kind of performance is awesome for any Zone, but it's especially impressive for the AI Zone as it's one of our newer topics. Awesome job, Shashank!
It's no secret we enjoy a little bit of controversy at DZone; it gets the conversation going. Zone Leader John Vester recently shared two semi-controverisal articles: "Is Kotlin the Mullet of Programming Languages?" and "Is it Time to Put Oracle Into a Retirement Home?" Both generated some really great discussions; plus, we love the headlines.
MVB Dan McGhan, who recently returned from a well-deserved hiatus, is back and already killing it with his articles on creating a REST API. Welcome back, Dan - we can't wait to read more of your content.
See you next month for another recap!
