Thanks to Amit Sharon, Vice President of Customer Success for Cloudinary for sharing the news, and rationale for, the 5X expansion of their free tier in the cloud.
“We’ve always been about helping developers,” said Sharon, “and they need room to experiment, run tests, proofs of concepts. This is especially important for start-ups and teams within companies with limited, or before asking for budget and making a commitment.”
More media is being used with responsive design and more solutions for video. Cloudinary has increased the size of its free tier so developers have an accessible place to offload video and images for optimization.
The trend is moving toward a lot more personalized video:
Retailers using Facebook with content from a spokesperson combined with user-generated content (UGC).
Video game trailers with the player’s image integrated into the trailer.
Real estate website automatically adding logs and contact details to videos uploaded by users/realtors.
Given the response rates for personalized content, we see this type of content growing.
With Cloudinary, there’s no incremental production all of the optimization features are accessible via APIs.
Cloudinary routes traffic in real-time between its partner CDNs for optimal performance based on the geography where the content will be seen.
Amit sees the future of images and video progressing on a number of fronts with more media channels coming online daily. Regardless of the channel, images and video will need to be optimized so clients are able to provide the best user (UX) and customer experience (CX).
"We realize how critical it is to manage content end-to-end and close the loop between marketers, content editors, developers and content delivery, to ensure optimal UX/CX, leading to better engagement and conversion rates," says Amit.
