“When developing mobile applications, you need to understand the architecture and the limitations of mobile devices and their corresponding radio networks,” explained  Ilya Grigorik, Developer Advocate and Web Performance Engineer at Google.

In his session Mobile Performance from the Radio Up: 4G Architecture and its Implications on Web Performance at Velocity 2013, Ilya discussed the different design constraints, performance characteristics and optimization criteria developers need to consider when developing for the mobile web. We caught up with him after the presentation to see if he had any more tips and this is what he had to say:
