Push notifications (toasts, live tiles, etc.) for the cloud are a big feature if you can have it in your app.  If you're familiar with this powerful little technology called Node.js you'll be happy to know that Windows Phone Lead Developer Jeff Wilcox has created a Microsoft Push Notifications Service (MPNS) module for node.js and put it on GitHub.

It isn’t a lot of code, but I sure hope it helps others who may be experimenting with other platforms while building a great push experience. If you’re using Azure, the Windows Phone team has already provided some awesome content here – Yochay has previously posted about a Windows Push Notification Server Side Helper Library.  -- Jeff Wilcox

So if you haven't found that nice Azure push notifications tutorial, or DZone's own series on WP7 push notifications series for SQL Azure.  Check um out and try Jeff's node.js module.

Analysts agree that a mix of emulators/simulators and real devices are necessary to optimize your mobile app testing - learn more in this white paper, brought to you in partnership with Sauce Labs.
