Biltong, Braai, and Some NetBeans Too!

Microservices! They are everywhere, or at least, the term is. When should you use a microservice architecture? What factors should be considered when making that decision? Do the benefits outweigh the costs? Why is everyone so excited about them, anyway?  Brought to you in partnership with IBM.

Returned from Stellenbosch/Cape Town, South Africa, where we had the first NetBeans Platform Architect course. The 4 day course was held at the Institute of Mine Seismology (IMS), a company specialized in applications for seismic monitoring and the analysis of microearthquakes for mining companies.

And finally I got a taste of what Heintz Kabutz was talking about all the time in his Java specialists newsletter:

The group is pretty advanced in their use of the NetBeans Platform, so we had a lot of interesting discussions, e.g., about Selection Management (although we didn’t get to fully discuss sticky lookups :-) ).

We had a very interactive course and we especially did a lot of workshops around the NetBeans visual library. Thanks to the group for Braai, Melktarte, Biltong, that sweet stuff I forgot the name of, and an overall great course!
