NetBeans 7.0: Shaping Up To Be The Best Quality Release Yet

· Java Zone

Microservices! They are everywhere, or at least, the term is. When should you use a microservice architecture? What factors should be considered when making that decision? Do the benefits outweigh the costs? Why is everyone so excited about them, anyway?  Brought to you in partnership with IBM.

NetBeans 7.0 RC1 is out! But the real news is all the effort made to make this a great quality release. The NetCat (NetBeans Community Acceptance Testing) team revamped its approach and the results are outstanding! The biggest improvement, IMO, is the introduction of Testing Tribes:

Sadly I didn't have the time to get into one of them, but the results has been impressive. Just look at the quality of the reports generated by the tribes (click the image above). I have been member of NetCat for some years now and you can see the drastic improvement in quality. I've never seen a bug hunting season like the one in this year's NetCat team.

The only thing missing is a more structured way of organizing the testing efforts but the team is already evaluating such tools for the next round. Keep up the good work guys while the community benefits from the improved quality!
