NetBeans IDE 6.5 Milestone 1 is now available for download. The latest development version of NetBeans is out. You can get the following flavors Web & Java EE, Mobility, Java SE, Ruby, C/C++, PHP and an all-inclusive download is available. NetBeans IDE 6.5 has three significant web features included - PHP, Ajax and Groovy/Grails. PHP support includes improved enhanced code completion, database/PHP related code snippets, multiple project configs, and find usages. Ajax enhanced support includes a JavaScript Debugger, JavaScript Library Manager and bundled JavaScript libraries. Finally in the web app department - Groovy is now a first class supported NetBeans language with support for Groovy built into the editor, Java SE project integration and support for Grails. Of course, there are many other enhancements including to Java via a Javadoc Analyzer, Call Hierarchy and CamelCase code completion. Other improvement to the debugger, web frameworks (Spring, Hibernate, JSF, JSF Crud generation, Java Persistence,), Ruby, databases, Mobility, the GUI builder, web services and a number of other things.

Among those other things are substantial improvements to the Rich Client Platform of NetBeans including a new OutlineView which is a replacement for TreeTableView, enhanced Java Web Start support that use the new applet functionality found in Java SE 6 Update 10. Swing developers will be happy with the many improvements to the GUI Builder (Matisse) - ButtonGroup visualization, preview in Nimbus look-and-feel, TreeModel editor, ListModel and ComboBoxModel usability enhancements.
