New Oracle Mobile Application Framework - Brings Java Hybrid Development to iOS and Android

Oracle released today its new Oracle Mobile Application Framework  - a development framework that speeds up the development of on-device mobile applications that run on multiple platforms from a single source.

A unique aspect of this framework is the ability to code and run Java on the mobile device on both iOS and Android systems. This is in addition to supporting the additional option to use HTML5+JavaScript techniques .

With built-in IDE integration in both Eclipse and JDeveloper, the development framework focuses on increasing developer productivity with component based UI constructions, MVC architecture driven by a powerful controller, and easy data binding to REST and SOAP Services as well as local POJOs.

The Oracle MAF hybrid container used by the framework provides a lightweight JVM, encrypted SQLite database for offline storage, built in security features for authentication/authorization and encryption, push notification handling, and full device features integration based on the Cordova plug-in architecture.
